You can see a dragon, Pegasus, a unicorn, and other mythical creatures. You’ll find it in the castle’s basement.
Třeboň Nature House
Formerly known as the “Landscape and People” Permanent Exhibition, it offers an unconventional glimpse into the history of nature and the landscape of the Třeboň region, where you can try out fun and educational activities for all ages.
The Třeboň Region Nature House is located within the grounds of the Třeboň State Castle. Its entrance is hard to miss—you’ll be drawn to a small pond with a waterfall formed by 200-year-old outlet pipes from the famous Rožmberk Pond.
- In the first room, you’ll meet the famous Třeboň fish farmers. Young children can climb into the hollow of an old oak tree. At the display case featuring selected fish species, children can play at being fishermen and catch a fish with a magnetic fishing rod, while also learning the names of the different fish.
- The second room showcases the Schwarzenberg family’s stewardship of the Třeboň estate in times long past. You can peek into the original castle cold storage room, which dates back to the early 20th century, when these spaces housed one of the castle kitchens.
- The third room is dedicated to the Třeboň spas and their history. Here you’ll learn about the founders, history, and present-day operations of the Berta and Aurora spas.
- The fourth room is dedicated to the nature of the Třeboň region; accompanied by the sounds of nature, the forest, and the ponds, you can observe their inhabitants or peek into an otter den.
- The final room of the exhibition is a video room where you can watch two films about the Třeboň region.
From May to September, it is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Contact 384 724 912.
