Slavonice

Slavonice, sometimes nicknamed "Little Telč," is a town located 54 km from Třeboň. It boasts a beautiful and unique collection of Gothic and Renaissance monuments

The Slavonice Stream flows through the town; it originates near Slavonice, at Stálkov. The town center features many historical monuments in the Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

The Underground System in Slavonice

It likely dates back to the 13th century; the tunnels carved into the rock served not only to drain the basements (many houses in Slavonice had two levels of cellars) but also, in case of danger, as a defensive and escape route with direct access from most houses in the historic town center.

The system gradually fell into disuse, and the cellars became flooded. Since 1991, the underground passages and cellars have been undergoing gradual restoration, and part of the underground complex is open to the public.

Pfaffenschlag – a defunct medieval village

Pfaffenschlag is a defunct medieval Moravian village located in a forest west of the Slavonice cadastral area, south of the road from Slavonice to Stálkov. The village ruins were discovered in the summer of 1958, and subsequent research was conducted by the Moravian Museum under the leadership of Vladimír Nekuda.

The village ruins are freely accessible via the red trail from Slavonice or a 200-meter-long path from the Slavonice–Stálkov road; they are also accessible to cyclists.
