Chlum u Třeboně

While exploring the Třeboň region, be sure to visit this picturesque town located about 12 kilometers from Třeboň. Among other things, you’ll find a beautiful Baroque chateau and, of course, a pond—a must-see here, just as in the surrounding area. The pond in Chlum is called Hejtman and offers not only fishing but also recreational opportunities.

Although you can only admire the castle from the outside, the park is open to the public. In addition to typical Czech deciduous trees, you’ll also find exotic species (such as the tulip tree, which botanists will surely appreciate) and the occasional Baroque statue.

Like every other small town in the countryside, Chlum u Třeboně must have its own Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Interestingly, there are nearly 30 of them in the Czech Republic.

Chlum u Třeboně was once known for its glassmaking industry; in its heyday, it enjoyed great, even worldwide, fame. Unfortunately, shortly after the turn of the millennium, the glass furnaces in Chlum fell silent forever.

Of course, Chlum and its surroundings are a paradise for cyclists. The entire Třeboň region is crisscrossed with bike paths, so if you enjoy this sport, your next vacation destination is a no-brainer.

Next to the church, a spring of clean water flows into two small fountains. Here you can refresh yourself and fill your water bottles.
