The Nadějská Pond System

The Nadějská Pond System has been named the most poetic place in the Czech Republic. Few places in the Czech Republic offer such positive energy as the ponds named Faith, Hope, Love, Goodwill, Delight, and Deed.

Like a significant portion of the region’s waterworks, some of these ponds were established by Jakub Krčín during the 17th century. Others were added in the early 19th century. All the ponds are connected by a canal leading from the Lužnice River, which bears a name as charming as its aquatic neighbors—Potěšilka.

The system is located in the village of Klec, just a few kilometers from Lomnice nad Lužnicí. A path runs around the Nadějská Pond System; you can admire the local natural beauty on foot and, of course, by bike along the local bike trail. Slender oaks, poplars, and alders will accompany you along the way. There is also a lookout tower and an ornithological observation station nearby. All of these sites are open to the public.
