Dobrá Voda – Kraví hora in the Novohradské Mountains
Dobrá Voda
Dobrá Voda is a district of Horní Stropnice and a pilgrimage site. In the Novohradské Mountains, on the southwestern slope of Kraví hora, stands a Baroque church that dominates the landscape and is visible on clear days as far away as the Budějovice and Třeboň regions, etc.
Dobrá Voda was sought after as a spa destination due to its slightly radioactive water and its location, which boasts the cleanest air in Bohemia. It was the most visited pilgrimage site in the České Budějovice diocese, attracting pilgrims not only from Bohemia and Austria, but also from Bavaria, Moravia, and Hungary.
Next to the church, a spring of clean water flows into two small fountains. Here you can refresh yourself and fill your bottles with water.
Kraví hora
This is a forested mountain, one of the dominant features of the northern part of the range; visible from a distance on the southern slope is the village of Dobrá Voda with its pilgrimage church.
At the summit and nearby are numerous granite rock formations, among which the formation known as Napoleon’s Head stands out.
The easiest way to reach the summit is from the village of Hojná Voda along the green hiking trail or from Dobrá Voda along the red trail.
Not far from the summit stands an observation tower, which you can climb to enjoy views all the way to Třeboň.
