In the Footsteps of the Hussites - Educational Bike Trail

Not far from our guesthouse, on the outskirts of [Třeboň](/trebon), you can join the 50-kilometer “In the Footsteps of the Hussites” educational bike trail. Along the way, you’ll find a number of points of interest and stops. For example, our Rožmberk Pond, the last work of Jakub Krčín, whose dam you’ll cross. The route also passes through the village of Klec, where, according to legend, Jan Žižka spent the night.

Faith, Love, Hope, Goodwill, and Deed are the beautiful names of the ponds in the Nadějská Pond System, across whose main dam the bike trail also runs. In the village of Hamr, you can admire the 16th-century Renaissance parish church of the Holy Trinity. You will also pass the Vítek Pond, with its white bridge, which was created by separating a part of Rožmberk.

And if you’re interested in Jan Žižka of Trocnov and the Hussite movement in general, you’ll find his birthplace near Borovany. There you can see a small Hussite museum, the foundations of Žižka’s farmstead, and a 13-meter-tall granite monument to the military leader. All of this is just 20 km west of Třeboň, which you can reach by bike.
